The field of sales encompasses all activities, tasks and methods focused on successful sales – and, as the link between companies and customers, is crucial to a company's success. In industries with products and services that require explanation, the focus is on selecting and developing economic and technical solutions for customers and supporting them in implementing these solutions. Successful sales require an interdisciplinary range of business and engineering knowledge and skills, as well as methodological, social and intercultural interface skills. Students are specifically qualified for demanding positions and subsequent management roles in technical sales and sales management.

During your studies:

The three-and-a-half-year dual Bachelor's programme alternates between theory (at the university) and practice (during your time at the company). The dual programme begins with an introductory phase in August. During this time, students get to know the company and its procedures and processes. Lectures for the first semester begin in October. A practical phase takes place after the first, second and third semesters. Following the fourth semester, the fifth semester offers the opportunity to focus on individual subjects or to spend a semester abroad. The fifth semester is followed by the project study, which extends over the entire sixth semester. Apart from two-day theory modules at StudiumPlus, students work at their partner company and work on larger projects within that framework. The seventh semester begins with the practical part of the thesis at the company. This is followed by theoretical block modules at the university. In the last month of their studies, students prepare for the colloquium, which takes place at the end of their studies, at the company.

Practical phase:

A practical phase takes place after the first, second and third semesters. Students write a report on each practical phase. The report and presentation are assessed by the practical phase supervisors at the company and the University (THM). Following the fourth semester, the fifth semester offers the opportunity to focus on individual subjects or to spend a semester abroad. The fifth semester is followed by project studies, which extend over the entire sixth semester.

 

The degree programme offers a wide range of career opportunities. Graduates can take on specialist and management roles in areas such as:

  • Purchasing and materials management
  • Quality, product and project management
  • Marketing and Sales
  • Work preparation / industrial engineering
  • Manufacturing / Production

They are also in demand in consulting firms and user companies in all sectors (e.g. industry, trade, building management).
